On December 7, 2016, an earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter Scale with an epicenter located at coordinates 5.19 LU and 96.36 BT at a depth of 10 Km (BMKG analysis) rocked the Banda Aceh region precisely in Pidie Jaya District, Banda Aceh, Indonesia . This earthquake was the impact of active faults in the area and did not cause a Tsunami impact. The earthquake destroyed several buildings and claimed the lives of 104 people died, 139 people were seriously injured, 718 people suffered minor injuries and 43,529 people were displaced by the earthquake.
